Neurotoxicity

• Reserved for patients who are intolerant or failed first line therapy
• Neurotoxicity: seizures ad death have been reported with repeat or prolonged application, and rarely with single application. Use with caution as increased risk in infants, children, elderly, in those with other skin conditions, ot those who weigh < 50>
• Contraindicated in premature infants and those with uncontrolled seizure disorders
• Patient Counseling on proper use required, including amount to apply, how long to leave on, and avoidance of re-treatment.  Inform patients that itching occurs after the successful killing of lice and is not necessarily an  indication for re-treatment with Lindane shampoo.
