Carboplatin

Myelosuppression: Anaphylaxis Risk

  • Under supervision of experienced physician in the use of cancer chemotherapy in Equipped Facility for management of therapy and complications
  • Myleosuppression: dose related and severe, resulting in infection and/or bleeding.
  • Anemia may be cumulative and require transfusions
  • Vomiting is another frequent drug related side effect
  • Anaphylaxis reactions may occur within minutes of administration. Epinephrine, corticosteroids and antihistamines may alleviate symptoms.

MONITORING RECOMMENDATIONS RELATED TO BLACK BOX DATA

  • Anaphylaxis reactions may occur within minutes of administration. Epinephrine, corticosteroids and antihistamines may alleviate symptoms.
  • Perform peripheral blood counts frequently during therapy and until recovery is achieved.
  • Avoid confusion with cisplatin (see cisplatin package insert)
